Adult Spiritual Retreat
Every year before our spring program, the adult students have a spiritual retreat called “Come Away” and that is literally what we do. We leave husbands, children, work, and all other cares behind so we can spend time with each other, but more importantly, the Lord.
Every year the retreat has had a different feel to it, but some things are consistent: we spend time in fellowship and enjoying good food. Some years we’ve played some fun games or sat around a campfire and talked. After breakfast on Saturday morning, we fast from talking to one another and from eating. We spend some of the day in guided devotion and worship together and at other times we have quiet time to individually be with the Lord. We journal our thoughts or prayers, read a devotional book or the Scriptures or just simple listen and wait on the Lord. We also might take a nap or go for a walk.
We then meet together to break the fast with washing each others feet, partaking in communion as a group and sharing a meal together. Time is allowed for sharing something the Lord may have spoken to us during the day.
Our main purpose for this retreat is to cleanse ourselves from any sins before we minister to others in the dance. We take our roles as priests seriously and we cannot take people into the presence of God when we are not clean ourselves.
